2011-2012 General Education Course Submission and Review Timeline
The New Mexico Higher Education Department in collaboration with the Articulation Task Force will facilitate the review and approval of new courses for the General Education Core. Institutions may submit new courses for approval in either the Fall or the Spring. To submit new courses for approval to be added to the General Education Common Core Curriculum please follow these steps:
1. The Academic Division must complete the appropriate Course Evaluation Forms for each course being proposed and written to meet the appropriate discipline competencies of the General Education Common Core. Course forms and supporting information is available at:

2. The completed Course Evaluation Forms must be reviewed and have the signature approval of the Institution’s Chief Academic Officer.
3. The Approved and Signed Course Evaluation Form must be submitted to course.approval@state.nm.us on or before the submission deadlines of September 23, 2010 or February 24, 2011.
4. Incomplete Course Evaluation Forms and Submissions after the deadline will not be considered and will need to be resubmitted during the next submission cycle.
Timeline for Fall 2011 Submission and Review of New General Education Courses
Friday, September 23, 2011 – Submission (via email) of new general education courses for review
Friday, October 7, 2011 – Review by NMHED completed
Friday, October 28, 2011 – Reviews by discipline groups completed
Wednesday, November 2, 2011 – Notify institutions about course approvals/disapprovals
Timeline for Spring 2012 Submission and Review of New General Education Courses
Friday, February 24, 2012 – Submission of new general education courses for review
Friday, March 9, 2012– Review by NMHED completed
Friday March 30, 2012 – Reviews by discipline groups completed
Wednesday, April 4, 2012 – Notify institutions about course approvals/disapprovals
